City Requires License for Lawn Service

St. Clair Shores along with many cities require landscapers to have a permit to work in the city. This was started to protect customers from "fly-by-night" contractors. To obtain a permit, a company must be insured and conduct themselves in a professional manner. The permit is a decal located in the lower left corner of the windshield of the service vehicle. If your company does not have this permit, they are not allowed to work within the city limits. The law states that both the contractor and the hiring party can be issued a violation if no permit has been obtained. Don't take a chance of facing hundreds of dollars in fines and legal costs by hiring an illegal landscaper. Check with the city to find out if yours is llicensed.
